Michigan Football: 5 things we learned in blowout of Michigan State
Patterson is re-defining himself at Michigan
If Shea Patterson could have played better Saturday, it’s hard to figure out how. His performance was nearly perfect and outside of a slow start, he was simply brilliant.
He finished the game completing 24-of-33 passes and basically had just three incompletions over the final three quarters. He also tossed four touchdown passes and threw for more yards and than any Wolverines quarterback ever has against Michigan State with 384.
Patterson also did it with little to no running game, which made the feat even more impressive. Whether it was Nico Collins, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Ronnie Bell, Patterson did a great job of spreading the ball around and there was nothing the Spartans could do to stop it.
With two weeks to go, it’s hard to imagine Patterson playing any better. This week at Indiana will be another key test because his play on the road hasn’t always been as good, but with Ohio State coming to the Big House in two weeks, it’s easy to feel good about the quarterback play.
