Offense

Being outscored 100-17 in a three-game span is everything you need to know about the MSU offense.

“Was it a mistake not to bring in a new offensive staff?” asked a reporter following the 38-0 loss at the hands of Wisconsin.

“That’s sort of a dumb*** question,” Mark responded.

Is it really a dumb question?

It’s not just the offensive woes that everyone else has experienced with the Badgers and Buckeyes, it’s also the inability to finish games as witnessed in the six points mustered in the second half on Saturday.

Statistics reveal their true colors. Out of 130 teams in Division I, Michigan State ranks 106 in Scoring Offense, 106th in Rushing Offense, 96th in Total Offense, and 65th in Passing Offense.

Led by Brian Lewerke‘s seven interceptions, the MSU offense features a hefty helping of Cam Chambers, Connor Heyward, La’Darius Jefferson, and Noah Davis. Oh, wait, nevermind…all three of those gentlemen transferred out this year.

Bad jokes aside, the Spartan’s success story has been Elijah Collins, the redshirt freshman running back who has 715 yards on the ground so far and is well on his way to be the first Spartan to hit the 1,000-yard mark since 2014.

Darrell Stewart Jr. and Cody White are the usual suspects in the passing game, followed closely by the University of Buffalo’s former tight end, Matt Seybert.
