How MSU wins

How does MSU win? A miracle. The Spartans will need a miracle and the return of their star linebacker and banned substance user, Joe Bachie.

“This does not define Joe as a player, and more importantly, as a man,” Dantonio said in a statement.

Yeah, I’m sure it doesn’t, coach.

The season for the Spartans is effectively over. With four wins and five losses, there surprisingly is a chance at a garbage bowl game, but it’s bad season by anyone’s standards.

Even before the shocking loss to Illinois, the local media turned on the Spartans. Amanda Poole from The State News perfectly summarized the Michigan State season in her article Bye weeks gone, Bachie done, hope lost.

“[L]ack of talent leads to lack of execution, which results in a loss,” Amanda wrote. “I predict the once-hopeful Spartans lose to Illinois, Michigan, sneak a win at Rutgers and end senior day without Bachie and without a win against Maryland.”

The Spartans understand how disappointing their season has been, and they recognize what a win over Michigan would mean to their legacy. It’s a rivalry that breeds hatred, and if Michigan gets caught looking ahead to Indiana or Ohio State, and Lewerke somehow finds a way not to be a bad quarterback, Michigan might find themselves on upset alert.

But as long as the Wolverines show up to the game, Shea plays well, and they win the turnover battle, Michigan will be heading home with the victory.
