Isaiah Livers becomes a lottery pick

When Ignas Brazdeikis committed to Michigan, Livers knew he was going to work his butt off to earn significant playing time behind the eventual Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Coming off the bench for the second time in two seasons, Isaiah managed 7.9 points-per-game and became the three-point threat for Michigan, averaging 43% from beyond the arc.

Now that Iggy, Jordan Poole, and Charles Matthews have left, Livers will be the catalyst for a successful Wolverine team in 2019. Against SVSU, Livers showed he has the chops to do just that. In 25 minutes, Isaiah shot 50% from three (4-8), and 64% from two (7-11) during his 20 point outing; one of many team-leading performances to come.

That’s the type of game Livers needs consistently, and while the competition may have been less than ideal, Isaiah proved he at least has the ability to become the leader of this team. We can’t expect 20 points a night, but we should expect him to be the team’s leading scorer while Franz is out and to trade games with Wagner when they’re both healthy.

Michigan is in need of a scorer, and Livers fits the bill. When the season is over, Isaiah will be getting calls from NBA scouts looking to draft the Wolverines top dog for the 2019-20 season.
