Field goal troubles continue

While there was some stellar play on special teams against Maryland, with the kickoff return for a touchdown and successfully executing a fake punt, there were some things to be concerned about too.

The touchdown allowed to Maryland on a kickoff return was poor coverage and prevented what could have been a shutout. However, the bigger concern, again, is field-goal kicking.

Jake Moody missed a relatively short kick right before the half. Patterson completed a 29-yard pass to Sean McKeon and it would have given UM some added momentum going into halftime, but Moody missed. It was the sixth miss of the year between Moody and Quinn Nordin.

For the season, the two kickers are 7-of-13 on field goals and each has missed three times. Nordin actually made his first kick of the season at College Park.

It has been a lingering issue all season long and while it may not matter against the likes of Maryland, with Michigan State, an underrated Indiana team and Ohio State left on the schedule, those opportunities have to be converted.
