Michigan Football: 3 losses that still haunt Jim Harbaugh, Wolverines
Michigan blows 10-point lead and losses on a blown call
If you want to look at three games that really defined the start of the Harbaugh era, it was the losses to Michigan State in 2015, Iowa in 2016 and Ohio State in 2016.
Despite the loss to Iowa a couple of weeks earlier, Michigan football still controlled its destiny for the College Football Playoff and the Big Ten title. It just needed a win at Ohio State and midway through the third quarter, it looked like it might get it.
Wilton Speight threw two costly interceptions, one that went for a touchdown and another that set up a score for the Buckeyes.
Despite those colossal mistakes, Michigan still had chances in overtime to win the game. First, on the play that led to J.T. Barrett‘s fourth-down conversion, Jabrill Peppers had a chance to stop Curtis Samuel for a big loss that would have forced a long field goal attempt on a 4th-and-15.
Of course, Peppers missed the tackle and Ohio State got to fourth-and-inches. Then, even though Barrett looked short, he was given a first down and Michigan football left with a loss.
A loss, that still haunts every Michigan football fan three years later.
