Michigan football is coming off an incredible victory over a top-ten opponent, and they now need to turn their attention to one of the bottom feeders of the Big Ten.

Maryland’s head coach is well known by Michigan football’s offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, as the two ran the offense together at Alabama, or at least, that’s how Gattis saw it.

“I have tremendous amount of respect for Mike Locksley,” Gattis said. “He called every play. There was never any other comments about that. (I’m) 100% confident. Mike Locksley can say I watched him call every play. Ask him where the game plans usually came from! I’m fine with that, you know what I mean? He called every play, and I’ve got a notebook upstairs with a lot of the game plans written down in them.”

Mike Locksley, on the other hand, remained confident that the offense fell on his shoulders, not Josh’s.

"“I’d like to put this to bed, here’s what I say: I’ve been a first-time play-caller before. I think back in 2005 was my first time I had the chance to call plays, so I know the anxiety that comes along with it. Josh knows the truth. I think that’s really important to understand. And I also know that there’s a difference between suggestions and decisions, and he’ll have an opportunity to make decisions.”"

One coach left Alabama and is less than a week removed from victory over one of the best teams in the nation. The other has posted an abysmal head coaching record of 6-36 and was just embarrassed on the road in Minnesota’s house, 52-10.

And it’s not going to get better for Mike against his former colleague if recent history holds true. Since 2015, the Wolverines have dominated the Terrapins with win totals that don’t look real, like in Ann Arbor in 2016, when UM toppled Maryland 59-3.

Here’s what we’ll see this weekend in College Park.
