Time to give Harbaugh credit

People have been quick to criticize and after the rumors about Harbaugh came out, I said I thought this was the beginning of the end. Clearly, I was wrong.

And all of Harbaugh’s critics now have the give the man credit for an impressive coaching job.

With his team barely alive in the Big Ten East, needing basically a loss from Ohio State and two from Penn State just to have a chance, the Wolverines could have crumbled. They could have just played out the next few games and tried to save the season against Ohio State.

But they didn’t and that’s a credit to the head coach. This team was motivated and out to prove a point. This was about showing everyone that the narrative is wrong, that this program can beat elite teams and win big games.

Also that this season is far from over. A championship may be out of reach, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot left to be accomplished.

Michigan football hasn’t beaten Ohio State, that’s the obvious goal. A rivalry game against Michigan State is another big opportunity and if UM can run the table and get to 10 wins, it would certainly be in a major bowl, which is something else the Wolverines haven’t won since 2011.

This season can still be memorable and the 45-14 win Saturday night reminded us of that.
