Michigan Football: 5 Predictions for Wolverines against Penn State
Can Michigan pull the upset?
It’s easy to compare this game to the one in 2017 that Michigan lost by 29 points. But this team isn’t that Penn State team. It’s good but it seems slightly overrated.
Sean Clifford is no Trace McSorley and the Nittany Lions don’t have Saquon Barkley either. Obviously, KJ Hamlin is a stud and he needs to be a focal point for the defense.
Yet, this Penn State team doesn’t feel like a juggernaut to me. The Nittany Lions haven’t played a defense as good as Michigan’s and while their defense is much better than expected this season, they haven’t exactly played many talented offenses.
It remains to be seen if Nico Collins plays and if he does, what kind of impact he can make. Donovan Peoples-Jones feels ready to breakout and Ronnie Bell has been a consistent playmaker.
With a running game and an efficient Shea Patterson, Michigan has more than enough to win this game. It just has to avoid the mistakes that have killed it all year.
Call me crazy, but I believe this team will not only cover the spread, I think they’ll win the game and Jim Harbaugh will finally have a big win to show his critics.
