The Defense won’t get flattened like in Madison

If Michigan football is going to have a chance at beating Penn State, it’s going to need a great effort from the defense and I for one think they will get it.

Sean Clifford has been very good this season, however, against Pittsburgh and Iowa, he only completed 48 percent of his passes and didn’t even average seven yards an attempt.

And no disrespect to those teams, but Michigan’s defense is better. The pass rush has been on fire lately with Josh Uche and others pressuring the quarterback, so we will see how Clifford can hold up under the pressure.

Stopping the run will also be a huge key. If the Wolverines can force Penn State to be one-dimensional, Don Brown’s defense can crank up the pressure and that’s been a very good formula for success.

If Penn State gets the running game going, Clifford will have a much easier day at the office. Yet, I expect the defense to show up and keep the Nittany Lions to 20 points or less.
