The fab five

At point guard, we have Nimari Burnett, a family friend of the Howards. Nimari holds two crystal balls leaning him towards Alabama, however, the future star is a Chicago native just like Juwan.

247 sports ranks Burnett as the 5th combo guard, 22nd nationally, and gave him a 9918 composite rating with five stars.

“A big-bodied guard who excels both on and off the ball. When he plays on the ball, he uses his frame with great length to overpower defenders and get to into the lane,” 247 sports Brian Snow wrote in his evaluation. “Once there, Burnett shows solid floor vision and is good at finding shooters. When he plays off the ball, Burnett makes himself into a scorer who can get buckets by both attacking the basket and from deep.”

Nimari is in no hurry to commit and his father has said he wants to see Howard coach through adversity before they decide.

At shooting guard, we have Zeb Jackson, the lone 2020 commit. Zeb is an ankle breaker with a deadly shot.

Here’s a minute-long highlight real showcasing Zeb’s many talents.

According to Rivals, Zeb is 58th nationally and 13th at his position. Geographically, Jackson is from Maumee, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo and is the No. 1 basketball player in-state.

As small forward, we have Moses Moody, a teammate of Jackson’s this season. Moody obtained his scholarship offer from Howard in August and has busted on the scene as one of the best in high school basketball, earning a total of 25 offers.

Moody is 42nd nationally, seventh in the state of Arkansas, and the 8th ranked SG, according to 247 sports. At 6-foot-5, however, he could be moved to the wing as the taller of the two guards listed above.

Moody visited in late September in what has been a whirlwind recruitment.

At power forward, we have Isaiah Todd, the man who received his introduction earlier.

At center, we have Hunter Dickinson. Hunter is a 7-foot-2 giant from Maryland that is showing signs of favoring Michigan.

For his evaluation, we turn to Jerry Meyer from 247 sports.

"Big body who can occupy space. Not an explosive athlete. Good basketball IQ and positional defender and rebounder. Effective in the high/low game. Knows how to seal his man and can also deliver a pass from the high post. Has reliable jump hook with his dominant left hand. Can make a face-up midrange shot."

At one point, many thought Hunter would choose the Fighting Irish until Juwan entered the picture.  Now two of the three crystal balls have Dickinson committing to UM.

If this were to be the future of Michigan basketball, the Wolverines wouldn’t be the fifth or six best team in the Big Ten anymore. These fabulous five – should they all join Howard – will skyrocket UM past their rivals and straight to the top of college basketball.
