The offense

For three years, Trace McSorley was the man for the Nittany Lions. Now dawning a Baltimore Ravens Jersey, James turned to the oh-so-capable Sean Clifford. Through six games, Clifford accounted for 13 touchdowns to two interceptions and over 1,500 yards. He might be better than his predecessor.

Sean will likely be joined in the backfield by running back Noah Cain. I say Cain is likely to start because the Nittany Lions didn’t begin the season with a clear favorite at the position, and the heir apparent was thought to be Ricky Slade. Cain quickly rose through the ranks and snagged the starring role, averaging 5.4 yards-per-carry and six trips in the endzone.

There is one man on the offense that will make Don Brown pay for any mistakes. That man is KJ Hamler, and he might be the best in the business. Through two seasons, KJ has 1,209 receiving yards, and before everything is said and done (and if he stays for a final season), Hamler will set the record books on fire.

In an effort to recreate what the now Detroit Lion Jesse James accomplished in State College, Pat Freiermuth has emerged as the next great tight end with sticky hands. At 6-foot-5 and approaching 260-pounds, the Massachusetts product has comparisons to former Patriot Rob Gronkowski.

While Penn State is talented at tight end, the Wolverines must not ever forget where KJ Hamler is on the field. He has touchdowns in each of the last three games, and that streak must end if the Wolverines want any hope of upsetting the seventh-ranked Nittany Lions.
