Haskins has earned the backup job

Over the last three weeks, Hassan Haskins has started playing a big role and Saturday was the first time he reached double figures in carries.

Haskins rewarded Michigan football for that workload with 125 yards on 12 carries, including a 29-yard run, when he bullied his way past some Illinois defenders.

Like Charbonnet, Haskins is a big, explosive back. He’s fast, physical and he needs to get more carries. At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, he offers another big-play presence in the backfield.

Against Illinois, he averaged more than 10 yards a carry. He racked up 22 yards on two attempts against Iowa, including an 18-yard run and had 45 yards on nine attempts vs Rutgers.

The offensive line is getting better and as long as the running game centers around Charbonnet and Haskins, the ground attack will too.
