Michigan Football: 3 Wolverines who need to step up against Illinois
Michigan football will hit the road this week for a potential trap game against Brandon Peters and Illinois. Here are three Wolverines who need to step up.
When it comes to Michigan football, there has been a tendency under head coach Jim Harbaugh to struggle on the road.
This has happened against ranked teams, with recent examples against Ohio State and Wisconsin coming to mind, as well as a slew of lesser opponents over the years.
But, if there is one thing you can say about Harbaugh, he beats the team he is supposed to beat, even if there has been a little drama involved at times.
A few instances include two road games at Indiana and another at Minnesota. A close win at Northwestern last season is another example.
This week, Michigan football will be on the road again, at a place it hasn’t been in a few years at Illinois.
Despite the length of time between games, there could be a familiar face playing quarterback against the Wolverines and that’s Brandon Peters, who will be the starter for the Fighting Illini if healthy.
Since Illinois is 2-3 coming in and has lost three straight games, it’s not a shock to see Michigan enter as a 21.5 point favorite. However, on the road, strange things can happen, especially if a team isn’t sharp and offensively, UM has been anything but sharp in recent weeks.
So with that in mind, here’s a look at three guys that need to step this week, in order to avoid a battle in Champaign.
