Will Patterson ever figure it out?

Last week against Rutgers, Shea Patterson gave Michigan football fans hope. He looked comfortable, accurate and not afraid.

But Saturday, it was back to the same-old Patterson. When it was all said and done, Shea completed only 14-of-26 passes for 147 yards. He averaged a paltry 5.7 yards per attempt and also had an interception, along with a QBR of only 27.

Obviously, things would have felt better had Jake Moody made that chip shot field goal or if Quinn Nordin was able to connect before halftime, but the fact is, Michigan football had three red-zone opportunities and only converted it into 10 points.

That might hack it against Iowa, but against teams like Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State, it’s hard to see that being enough to win.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh said the offense was on the right track after the game, which makes you wonder, what game was he watching? Things aren’t fine and if Patterson can’t produce, Harbaugh, at some point, has to sit him.
