Michigan Football: 3 key takeaways from Wolverines win over Iowa
By Nick Popio
Defense Delivered
Don Brown’s defense deserves to take a bow after what they presented Saturday afternoon. UM suffocated Nate Stanley throughout and never let him get comfortable in the pocket. Iowa’s offensive line struggled to block and that was all the defense needed to overcome the Hawkeyes. It has now only allowed a field goal over the last six quarters of action.
Before getting banged up, Kwity Paye seemed unblockable with 2.5 sacks. His replacement, Mike Danna even got to the quarterback on what turned out to be a free for all on the Iowa signal caller. The most impressive number though, might have been that Iowa only had a minuscule one rushing yard as a team. If that doesn’t pop out right away, then I don’t know what else would.
Khaleke Hudson added in 11 tackles in his leadership role. Jordan Glasgow notched two more sacks to his resume, while Cam McGrone continues to impress. Altogether it was a defensive team effort with almost everyone getting involved somehow. An outing like this is just what the doctor ordered to hopefully catapult the defense into playing like that for the treacherous gamut ahead.
