The defense

Don Brown got his first shutout since 2016, which was also against Rutgers.

Defensive line

Grade: A

Don Brown’s defensive line was atrocious against Wisconsin, and they could do no wrong against Rutgers. On the day, the Scarlett Knights rushed for 40 yards in what was one of the more dominating performances by Michigan in years.

Kwity Paye was the breakout player of the game with six total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss.

Linebackers

Grade: B

Khaleke Hudson had a fantastic outing with a team-leading seven tackles, but it sophomore Cameron McGrone that shined. Cam didn’t appear on the stat sheet, but it was his speed and tenacity that were apparent on every play.

Jordan Glasgow redeemed himself after a rough performance a week ago. Although, what do you expect when you put a 6-foot-1-inch 225-pound linebacker up against the behemoths that make up Wisconsin’s offensive line.

Cornerbacks/safeties

Grade: B

Rutgers studied the 2018 game tape against Ohio State and exploited the weakness of this pass defense, which is crossing routes. It’s unbelievable that Rutgers didn’t score when all they had to do call a few rub routes to make their way to the endzone. We couldn’t stop them.

On a positive note, the highly-regarded freshman Daxton Hill saw a lot of action, and with how he played, it makes you wonder where he’s been all season. The guy run’s a verified 4.3 forty and could have easily saved a touchdown or two against Wisconsin.
