Michigan Football: 5 things we learned from win over Rutgers
Gattis goes to sideline and it makes all the difference
I know, I know, it was Rutgers but still, having Josh Gattis on the sideline seemed to make a difference with the offense and now, it seems very strange that he was ever in the booth.
He said that he’s never been in the booth before and since the guy is also the wide receivers coach, it would only make sense that he’s on the field.
Anyways, it got fixed and Saturday, it did seem to make a difference. The play-calling and the entire operation just seemed sharper. Of course, it’s easy to say that it was just Rutgers and that was probably part of it, but maybe, just maybe, this offense figured some things out.
The running game is still an issue and the fact that Zach Charbonnet only carried the ball five times is a worry for me with Iowa next week, but the staff might have been resting him for that exact reason.
Overall, it was good to see Gattis running the meetings on the sideline. It felt like he was in control yesterday and that confidence trickled down to everyone.
