Michigan Football: 3 key takeaways from Wolverines win over Rutgers

Played With A Sense Of Urgency
Jim Harbaugh’s group were salivating to see some action after the Wisconsin loss and it showed. No matter how you spin it, a win is a win, even against a sorry Rutgers program. The Wolverines came to make a statement today that they wanted to prove a week ago. Now they will be counted on to do bring that same focus with a sound Iowa club traveling to the Big House next Saturday.
The offense set the tone on the first drive with five plays on 80 yards in just over two minutes. Patterson and Milton both excelled when given the opportunities in the redzone. They didn’t settle for field goals and all but mirrored the 2016 pummeling of Rutgers in Piscataway.
On defense, there were standouts galore. Cam McGrone made a name for himself moving forward. He recorded numerous moments that will undoubtedly lead to more time at linebacker with Josh Ross out. Kwity Paye also got to the quarterback, while super freshman Daxton Hill had his best outing thus far in Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines ultimately outgained the Scarlet Knights by tripling the yards gained category and only allowed 10 first downs as well.
