Michigan Football: 5 things we learned in blowout loss at Wisconsin
Gattis is not living up to the hype
It was our fault for anointing Josh Gattis as the next great thing, I mean we should have realized when Nick Saban didn’t elevate him to offensive coordinator.
Harbaugh essentially offered the guy a job without interviewing him and while he was going to be the OC at Maryland, maybe this wasn’t the perfect fit that we thought.
For some reason, it appeared to take Gattis 3.5 quarters to realize Nico Collins couldn’t be guarded by anyone in the Wisconsin secondary. It also made no sense to play Donovan Peoples-Jones, but not until after the first quarter. If he’s healthy, play him. If not, don’t. Pretty simple.
That might not be on Gattis but he is the receivers coach.
There are seemingly a million things wrong with this team and one of them is the speed-in-space offense. At this point, you can’t go away from it. The best option is to start McCaffrey if healthy and try to adapt to the system as much as possible.
But after three games, this move has been a disaster and the offense has been worse than ever.
