With the season on the line, the 2019 Michigan football team is in dire need of a breakout game in Madison. But just how important is getting the win?

The preseason predictions were bold. Michigan football was expected by an abundance of experts to win out and take the Big Ten title in Indianapolis. With the high powered and veteran offense, no one could have predicted – what many consider – a disaster offensively. Turnovers and penalties accompanied by bland playcalling have the fan base running in fear but hoping for the best in Madison this weekend.

As far as the performance in the first two games, you can’t always get what you want. Every time the Wolverines step on the field, the opponent always seems to bring their A-game and occasionally, the team doesn’t always have an answer; although, thus far they have come out on top.

All Army needed was a field goal to seal the fate of Michigan. It was pushed to the right to the delight of the 100,000+ fans in the stadium and the hundreds of thousands watching on television. A failed fourth-down conversion by Josh Gattis’ men led to a near loss at home to a service academy. UM pulled out the victory but just narrowly, leading to boos and trash-talking over the idle week.

You wouldn’t know it from what (a minority of) the fanbase is spewing, but the Wolverines remain undefeated after two games heading into their toughest challenge, the Wisconsin Badgers. Even with two unimpressive victories, some outside observers remain confident in what this team can bring to the table.

“It takes a minute to get going.” Urban Meyer said on The Herd. “Yea it’s been very disappointing, and Shea Patterson, the one fumble was inexcusable however the other one was a responsibility of the tailback he was stripped from behind. Don’t give up on this offense.”

If Meyer is correct and the Wolverines head to Wisconsin and win in enemy territory, the bickering will stop. If Michigan can’t escape the madness in Madison, how will it impact the season?
