Michigan Football: Wolverines in the NFL, Week Two
By Jacob Shames
Two fourth-year pros stood out in Week 2 in a winning and losing effort, respectively.
Graham Glasgow, C, Detroit Lions — Glasgow’s started every game for the Lions the past two-plus seasons but has been rotating with Kenny Wiggins for snaps on the line so far this year. Regardless, he’s excelled in his role and is rapidly asserting himself as one of the Lions’ linchpins.
In Detroit’s 13-10 win over the Chargers in the home opener, Glasgow went down as Pro Football Focus’ highest-rated Lion on offense, with a 78.7 overall grade and scoring 79.9 in run blocking. Glasgow also sprung Kerryon Johnson‘s first-quarter touchdown with a critical block on the outside.
Jarrod Wilson, DB, Jacksonville Jaguars — The former undrafted free agent had played in all but one game in his first three years, but had recorded just two starts during that time. So far in 2019, he’s drawn the start in both the Jaguars’ contests, and on Sunday he had probably the best game of his career.
Wilson made eight tackles, four solo and four assisted, in a 13-12 loss to the Texans, while also recording two tackles-for-loss and a pass breakup. While Houston eked out a nailbiter, Wilson and the rest of the Jacksonville secondary bears little fault. Wilson helped hold DeShaun Watson to 16-of-29 passing and a meager 159 yards, without a touchdown.
