Michigan Football: 3 Reasons why Shea Patterson is the guy
Shea’s stats aren’t bad
Shea may have coughed up some fumbles but he’s still perfect in the air. Through two games, Shea completed 36 passes on 58 attempts and zero interceptions. Those stats are on par with his season last year but they’re not in any way an indication of things to come.
What’s to come is a healthy Shea Patterson who can be a running threat. That ability coupled with his extraordinary accuracy and arm strength ensures the skies the limit for the former five-star.
“He’s been banged up a little bit the last two weeks with an oblique, something he’s struggled with since the first play against Middle Tennessee,” Gattis said. “That had no effect on his decision making from that standpoint.”
An injury early in the first game and an off day at the office on the second Saturday encompass the ‘poor’ performances many attributed to Patterson’s ‘lackluster’ execution.
Shea was hurt from the start and yet that fact is never a consideration in the minds of the naysayers. The rock star quarterback battled through the pain to put on a show and people are calling for his head. The head of a guy who has passed for over 400 yards with an incredible 138.5 rating. And the head of the guy who could be the savior come New Year’s Day.
