There were some positive performances on Saturday. After his nightmare first game with a fumbled punt and dropped interception (which would have been a pick-six), Lavert Hill had a touchdown-saving pick in the second half when Army was about to go up 21-7.

The tackling was pretty solid against the Army triple-option with Khaleke Hudson credited with 12, Jordan Glasgow with 11, and Brad Hawkins and Aidan Hutchinson with 10 each. Aidan made two huge plays in the 2nd overtime that helped the Wolverines hold on. Finally, former Northville star, Jake Moody, kicked the winning 43-yard field goal in the 2nd overtime.

Yesterday’s escape keeps hope alive that the high expectations for this season can still be realized. The team will surely fall from the No.7 ranking, and all the hype has faded as reality sets in that they’re some serious troubles. But if the bye week is appropriately used, they get some important players back, and correct the fixable mistakes, the Wolverines can go to Madison and play some championship-type Michigan football to get the doubters back on the wagon.

It was tough to watch, but a win is a win no matter how ugly things get. Or as Vin Diesal said in The Fast and the Furious, “It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning is winning”.
