Patterson will throw at least three touchdowns again

The offense wasn’t bad against MTSU, it totaled more than 450 yards of offense, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype.

There were plenty of positives to take away and throwing the ball downfield more was one of them. Shea Patterson was just 17-of-29 and appeared to be a little off, however, he still threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns, averaging seven yards per attempt.

This week though, you will see an even better Patterson. Getting Donovan Peoples-Jones back would help, but even with Nico Collins, Tarik Black, Ronnie Bell and the freshmen like Giles Jackson and Mike Sainristil, the passing game can dominate.

Army doesn’t have the athletes to win jump balls against Michigan football’s wideouts. Collins and Black should have a field day — Peoples-Jones too. And if those guys get double-teamed too much, Bell and Sainristil are more than capable of taking advantage.

Last week was a good start but I expect the offense to clean up some things and have a much better feel. I also see Patterson having an even better week, throwing for around 250 yards and at least three touchdowns.

Whether they go for scores or not, big plays down the field should be aplenty, as long as Gattis keeps dialing up the deep balls.
