McCaffrey keeps making an impact
One of the biggest questions heading into the first game was how the Wolverines were going to use Dylan McCaffrey?
Harbaugh kept saying that he wanted to use both McCaffrey and Patterson and last week we got a glimpse of what that looks like.
It sounds like Patterson was less than 100 percent so that probably contributed to some of McCaffrey’s work, but I see him having a role like that each week going forward. He ran the ball eight times for 42 yards and threw twice for 17, completing both attempts.

As Urban Meyer said on the Big Ten Network, it’s something that Michigan football hasn’t used before and it’s essentially a triple-option because McCaffrey can run, throw and give to the back.
His ability creates a lot of havoc for defenses and even with Patterson, it’s worth giving McCaffrey a certain amount of snaps. Obviously, it has to keep being productive and it can’t disrupt the offense, but Meyer did it at Florida with Chris Leak and Tim Tebow, maybe it can work in Ann Arbor too, although a little differently.
