Michigan football enters week two against Army with a chance to be sharper than the Wolverines were against MTSU. Here are five predictions.

Now that the test run is out of the way for Michigan football, it’s time for the Wolverines to up their game as Army is set to invade the Big House on Saturday.

Michigan was solid against Middle Tennessee State and the score was closer than it should have been. The Wolverines were a little sloppy and definitely had some missed opportunities on both sides of the ball.

The players need to be better and the coaches need to be better. But it was the first game and as we know, Michigan tends to improve after that. It’s hard to say they continue to improve all year but under Jim Harbaugh, his teams have generally hit their strides in September and October.

In 2015, following a loss to Utah, the Wolverines dominated ranked opponents BYU and Northwestern. Last season, after going down to Notre Dame, Michigan football responded by winning 10 straight, including some one-sided wins against, well, pretty much everyone.

Army, like Michigan, is 1-0 and the Black Knights are a team that can’t be overlooked. They run the triple option, are tough and won 11 games last season. They have their QB back just like the Wolverines and if UM isn’t at the top of its game, Army will take advantage.

Michigan is off after this week, so a crisp performance is in order before heading to Madison in two weeks. With that in mind, here are five predictions for Saturday.
