Josh Ross will make a huge impact

Josh Ross isn’t Devin Bush and he’s not going to be this season for Michigan football. But in his own way, he will stand out, starting in the season opener.

For some reason, Ross hasn’t been talked about as much as some other Michigan defenders and maybe that’s because he is already seen as a known quantity after playing significant snaps last season.

However, this role in 2019 is different. He is expected to fill Bush’s shoes in the middle along with guys like Devin Gil and Cam McGrone. Ross, like Bush, is quick and he has reportedly gotten even faster in the offseason.

That’s good because the Wolverines need him to be a true three-down linebacker. He won’t cover sideline-to-sideline as Bush did but he’s a sure tackler and he should make a big impact this season. One of Bush’s specialties was coming on the blitz and it will be interesting to see if Ross can have the same success pressuring the quarterback.

He may not get a sack in this first game, but expect to hear his name called a lot against the Blue Raiders and every other team on the schedule.
