Mike Sainristil

When it comes to pure excitement, there may be no freshmen that offers more of that to Michigan football fans than Mike Sainristil.

The 5-foot-10 pass-catcher played both corner and wide receiver in high school, but when he came to Ann Arbor in the spring, it was clear that was he needed on offense.

It has been years since Michigan had someone as dynamic as Sainristil, who doesn’t fit the mold of guys like Donovan Peoples-Jones, Nico Collins and Tarik Black. But that’s a good thing. Those guys are all NFL-caliber wideouts, as Urban Meyer said on Fox Sports this weekend, but the Wolverines needed something different and Sainristil can provide it.

He was spectacular during the spring and he has continued to impress this fall, leading many to believe he will be starting in the opening game.

It’s clear that this offense needs a dynamic presence in the slot and now Shea Patterson has one in Sainristil.
