Daxton Hill

The secondary has been a hot topic of conversation all offseason especially with Michigan football having to replace guys like David Long and Brandon Watson.

As good as those guys and Tyree Kinnel were during their careers, they were part of the problem against Ohio State last season as the Buckeyes racked up 62 points in an embarrassing loss for the Wolverines.

Since then the talk has been about Don Brown adjusting and playing less man-to-man coverage. Certainly, it’s possible that he does that, but Brown is who he is and I don’t see him scrapping his aggressive approach.

There will be some more zone looks but the best way to defend the run-pass option is still man-to-man. A big help is having guys will dynamic ability and Hill fits that mold. The 6-foot defensive back runs a 4.3 in the 40 but is an equally strong tackler.

He may not start Week 1 but like Charbonnet, he’s going to have a huge impact this season. Whether it’s at safety or in the slot, he will be a key player by the time Big Ten play rolls around.
