Michigan football: 3 Best qualities of the Wolverines offense
Shea can surpass Trevor Lawrence
Trevor Lawrence took the college football world by storm, stealing the starting job from Kelly Bryant at Clemson and leading the Tigers to a National Championship. Shea Patterson can do better.
In 2018, Lawrence threw for 3,280 yards with 30 touchdowns and four interceptions in an offense that was highlighted by Justyn Ross who’s good, but he couldn’t hold DPJ’s pocket. Clemson also obtained the services of Tee Higgins who was the second-ranked WR in the 2017 class behind – you guessed it – Donovan Peoples-Jones.
The only difference between the quarterbacks at hand is their ranking. Lawrence was the No. 1 football player in the country for his class and the No. 1 Pro-style quarterback. Shea Patterson was the No. 4 football player for his class and the No. 1 Pro-style quarterback.
The talent is there, it’s the coaching philosophy that was lacking, which Harbaugh figured out. Jim dropped the reins and Gattis picked them up. With all the hype surrounding this offense and all the praise Josh has received from the coaches and players, this offense should be top 10 in the nation. Anything less is an utter failure.
Besides Patterson, this quarterback room is also one of the best in the nation. The room features Dylan McCaffrey (Brother of Carolina Panthers Christian McCaffrey), Joe Milton, and freshman Cade McNamara.
