The offense will average more than 40 points per game

Even though the Wolverines didn’t end the season the way they wanted to last year, they still averaged 35 points a game and scored 30 points or more nine times.

Those aren’t the worst offensive numbers in history but this season, it’s easy to see improvement on the way. As I said, Michigan operated at a snail’s pace last season and that limited the production of the group as a whole.

The offense was all about ball control and limiting turnovers. Most of the time, it was effective as Michigan won 10 straight games. However, it wasn’t good enough to beat elite teams like Ohio State, Florida and Notre Dame.

Michigan scored 39 against the Buckeyes but it abandoned its conservative gameplan too late. Now, that conservative approach should be a thing of the past and with all the talent on this roster, scoring 40 a game should be achievable, especially in an up-tempo system.
