Michigan Football: 5 predictions for Wolverines offense under Josh Gattis
Wolverines will finally have a WR reach 1,000 yards
Last season, Higdon became the Wolverines first 1,000-yard rusher as a running back since Mike Hart did it back in 2007. This season, Michigan is going to break the 1,000-yard barrier in another category and that’s receiving yards.
The last time a wide receiver went over 1,000 yards for UM also came back in 2007, when Mario Manningham reached the mark. Since then, the offense has seen some dramatic makeovers as Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoke came and left.
When Harbaugh took over, the passing game improved but guys like Jehu Chesson and Amara Darboh couldn’t quite reach 1,000 yards. After not having a receiver catch a touchdown pass in 2017, the production was much improved as Peoples-Jones and Collins combined for 14 touchdown receptions.
They also each went over 600 yards. This season, one of them will go over 1,000. It’s really hard to predict which will have the better season, but if the camp reports are true, it seems like Collins might be Michigan’s best offensive player, so don’t be shocked if he ends up being the No. 1 guy.
