Lance Ware

While Lance Ware has climbed the basketball ranks, the Wolverines has climbed his school ranking.

"Top-40 senior Lance Ware is down to five schools: Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio State, Providence, and Miami. He told @Stockrisers that he’s scheduled four visits, planning Kentucky visit as well. Plus broke down his finalists."

Per Jake Weingarten, Michigan – like with many others on this list of top dogs -made Ware’s the top five schools.

UM went from not being on Lance’s radar to the top of Juwan’s board. The recruiting for this guy has been so strong that College Sports Maven is predicting Lance will be in Howard’s first full recruiting class.

“A pure power forward who seems to do everything well except shoot it from the outside, which is why despite his affinity for Michigan he wasn’t high on Beilein’s board,” Steve Deace wrote in his article. “Considered the top prospect in New Jersey in his class, Ware is rated a 4-star prospect and the No.47 overall prospect in the country according to the 247 Composite.”

That’s right, Ware is a four-star and No. 47 overall according to 247Sports; however, Rivals ranks Lance lower at No. 52. That lower ranking will change soon after Lance’s breakout performance at the EYBL Peach Jam. Ware averaged 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks.

Lance was so impressive that Rivals own scouts admitted they may have made a mistake.

“We are in total agreement that we have Ware underrated, and we spent much of July wondering why elite college hoops programs weren’t all over him,” Rivals Eric Bossi said about Ware’s performance. “He is quick, he has touch, he causes nightmares for other bigs when attacking off the dribble from the high post and he’s learning to play from inside out to maximize his quickness advantage.”

247Sports does not have an evaluation for this young man yet, although I’m sure it’s coming soon. They did provide six crystal balls and at least one of them was in Michigan’s favor.
