Jaemyn Brakefield

His game is effortless. His shot is smooth. He is… Jaemyn Brakefield.

The 6-foot-8 power forward from West Virginia plays basketball much like a taller Jordan Poole. Not the fastest on the court but then again he’s no slouch. Jaemyn glides to his open shot and he always sinks them.

247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting, Jerry Meyer, had kind words to say about the future star.

“Solid size for a forward. A smooth athlete. Motor has a come into question at times. Skilled lefty. Can stretch defense with shooting. Has ability to score off dribble.” Meyer wrote. “Adequate handler and passer. Good rebounder and defender when playing with passion. Should develop into a first-round draft selection.”

Jerry also stated Jaemyn reminds him of the former Wisconsin star forward Sam Dekker and projected the Huntington native will be a future lottery pick as a first-rounder.

The difficulty here is Brakefield is believed to be in the grips of Kentucky with all three crystal balls heading to Lexington. Although, Howard is in the beginning stages of his courting of Jaemyn and it could pay off.

"Blessed to receive a offer from Coach Juwan Howard and The University of Michigan!"

As you can see by Jaemyn’s tweet, he was offered by Juwan on July 31st, perfect timing considering Jake Weingarten from Stockrisers recently Tweeted “Five-star senior Jaemyn Brakefield will cut down his list to 10 schools at some point this month, he told @Stockrisers. Unofficially visited Ole Miss last week, heads to Louisville next month, and is planning other visits. Recruitment is still open.”

Jake went on to say Jaemyn plans to “use one of his official visits on Michigan, he says. They recently offered him, so now he’s got officials to Louisville and Michigan.”
