Michigan Basketball: 3 former Wolverines Franz Wagner resembles
Michigan basketball recruit Franz Wagner is showing his skills at the European championships and here are three former Wolverines he has resembled.
There hasn’t been a lot of going on with Michigan basketball right now but with future Wolverine Franz Wagner playing for Germany in the European 18U championships, there has at least been something to follow.
Wagner got off to a sluggish start in the tournament and was held to just five points against Serbia and then he was injured in the second game and missed Germany’s contest vs Great Britain.
The issue was with Wagner’s back, however, when his team advanced into the round of 16, he was back on the floor against Russia and scored 14 points on just 4-of-15 shooting but he did manage to throw down a couple of highlight-reel slam dunks.
Then, on Thursday, Wagner finally started to look like himself. Germany was playing Latvia and the future Michigan basketball player led his national team to a win with 24 points and another eye-popping dunk.
While many have viewed Wagner as a pure shooter and he is, the Wolverines signee also has more to his game and this week specifically, he has shown Michigan basketball fans that he can score in a multitude of ways.
The way he has scored even without shooting well from 3-point range is key and his impressive finishes offered a glimpse into the kind of player he can be at Michigan.
There have been a number of players in recent years that Wagner can draw comparisons too but here are the three guys that come to my mind when he’s compared to former UM players.
