John Navarre arrived at UM with Tom Brady and Drew Henson as the starters which allowed him to learn from the best without being thrust into the action right away.

The 6-foot-6 QB from Wisconsin got the starting gig his sophomore year (injury-riddled freshman season) and he never looked back. By the time Navarre was drafted in 2004, he had amassed 9,014 yards and 70TDs.

John holds the following Michigan football records:

Most passing yards in a season (3,331/2003)

Most pass completions in a season (270/2003)

And tied for second for most touchdown passes in a game (4/2000 and 2002)

The NFL never really worked out for Navarre and he left the league in 2007. In 2011, Bruce Madej from MGoBlog caught up with John in a where are they now article.

Navarre spoke about the unlikely victory against Minnesota in 2003, during which the Wolverines were down 28-7 after three quarters.

“They were a good team and it was big crowd and they were loud in the Metrodome,” Navarre noted, “The ability to adapt to change is what won the game for us the coaching staff scrapped the game plan much quicker than anticipated and we went to a two-minute hurry up offense and just spread everyone.”

Michigan ended the game taking home the Little Brown Jug, winning the game 38-35.
