Michigan Football: 5 key things Jim Harbaugh said at Big Ten Media Days
Harbaugh touches on transfers
Michigan football dealt with a number of transfers this offseason but really, it’s something that is becoming more and more prevalent in college football.
When things don’t work out as players hope, they leave for more opportunities elsewhere and it’s hard to blame them. They only get four seasons of eligibility and it doesn’t make sense wasting that time just to sit on the bench.
That’s what made Oliver Martin‘s decision strange. He wouldn’t have played a huge role but he wasn’t going to ride the pine in Ann Arbor. However, with Iowa, he could easily be the No. 1 wide receiver, if he is allowed to play right away.
Harbaugh said he didn’t have any control over that, but in his opinion, each player should be able to transfer once and play right away. Some might think that sounds like college football free agency. Yet coaches move all around and players should have that freedom too. At least once.
