Favorable schedule

The other reason that Michigan football is being predicted to win the Big Ten is simple: The Wolverines have a pretty favorable schedule, at least in terms of having key games at home.

When it comes to winning the Big Ten East, Ohio State, Michigan State and Penn State have been the biggest threats and getting two of those three games at home should help. The Wolverines will host Michigan State in November, as well as Ohio State in the final regular-season game.

The fact that both of those contests will be played at the Big House is a big deal, especially considering Ohio State has to make a tough trip to Nebraska too, as well as to Happy Valley.

UM will be challenged on the road at Wisconsin and Penn State, but it should have the talent to beat those two teams again. Notre Dame and Iowa will also invade the Big House for what should be marquee games in October.

Overall though, the schedule is far from easy but it’s manageable. The most difficult games (Ohio State, ND, MSU) are all at home and even if the Wolverines slip up on the road, as long as they take care of business at the Big House in 2019, they will head to Indy for the Big Ten title game.
