Michigan Football: 3 best reasons Wolverines are the Big Ten favorite
No Urban Meyer
A lot of Michigan football fans were happy to see Urban Meyer retire at the end of the 2018 season. One man that wasn’t happy was Jim Harbaugh, who ended up 0-4 against the former Ohio State head coach during his time in Columbus.
Yet, there is nothing Harbaugh can do about his 0-4 mark against Urban. It is what it is. However, now that Urban is gone, the Big Ten feels more wide open than ever and more than anything, his departure has given credence to the idea that the Buckeyes won’t be as dominant.
Certainly, Ryan Day looks up to the task. He landed five-star transfer Justin Fields and is putting together a stout 2020 recruiting class. But it’s still his first full season on the job and his first Michigan-Ohio State game will be in Ann Arbor, against what could be Harbaugh’s best team.
Beating Michigan in 2019 wasn’t going to be easy for Meyer, especially with a new quarterback. And now that Ohio State will head into The Game with a first-year head coach and first-time starter at QB, the media seems to have more confidence in the Wolverines than ever.
Only time will tell is that confidence has been misplaced.
