3. Jake Butt

Jonathan Duane Butt had four tremendous years at Michigan and yet he still remained the Butt of bad jokes – just like that awful dad joke.

Playing for the Wolverines from 2013-16, Jake was named First-team All-American, two-time First-team All-Big Ten and was the recipient of the Ozzie Newsome and John Mackey Award. Butt was also twice named as the Kwalick–Clark Tight End of the Year.

Butt played under both Jim Harbaugh and Brady Hoke and was a household name by the end of his first year. Overall, Butt caught 138 passes for 1,646 yards.

Coming out of Pickerington, Ohio, Butt was a huge target standing at 6-foot-6-inches and was expected to be a second-round pick in the draft. An ACL tear in the Orange Bowl dropped Butt all the way to the fifth round where he was selected by the Denver Broncos.

Jake has seen limited time as a professional but he’s only in his third season. That and he plays for a team that has no idea what they’re doing when it comes to the quarterback position. Also, he tore his ACL again during non-contact drills which sidelined him in September of 2018. Prior to the injury he was named as the backup tight end and has been recovering from the first ACL tear ever since.
