Michigan Football: Ranking 3 biggest trap games for Wolverines in 2019
Michigan football has a challenging schedule in 2019. Yet, with many key games at home, some have predicted a 12-0 season. But which games could be a trap?
If you haven’t noticed, there is a lot of hype surrounding the Michigan football team heading into the 2019 season.
Not only are we here at GBMWolverine predicting Michigan football to finish the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record, Phil Steele and 247 sports, using ESPN’s FPI have also projected that the Wolverines will run the table.
The thinking behind is it pretty simple. Michigan returns most of its key guys offensively, including starting quarterback Shea Patterson and his top targets in the passing game, while also having the depth and talent to replace key defensive losses like Devin Bush, Rashan Gary, Chase Winovich and David Long.
The offense has guys to replace too, namely starting running back Karan Higdon, who rushed for more than 1,100 yards last season. Zach Gentry and Juwan Bushell-Beatty are the other notable graduates.
In terms of the schedule, it’s difficult but also favorable. The Wolverines will have to play Army, Iowa, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State at home, as well as making trips to Penn State and Wisconsin, among others.
On paper, the five most difficult games appear to be Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin. With three of those games at home and with an experienced team, you can see why experts are projecting big things for Michigan football.
The question is, can the Wolverines deliver? Another question is what team or teams might sneak up and give UM unexpected trouble this season. For that answer, here is a look at what trap games could trip up Jim Harbaugh and company in 2019.
