DT: Maurice Hurst, Mike Martin

Hurst’s stats (2014-17): 130 tackles, 32 TFL, 13.5 sacks

Appearing in seven games in 2014, Hurst began to emerge on the scene in 2015. He appeared in all 13 games that year and registered his first four career starts.

After a solid 2016 season, the Massachusetts product had a dominant 2017 season. Hurst racked up 59 tackles, 13 TFL and 5.5 sacks on his way to All-American and first-team All-Big Ten honors.

His 2017 efforts also netted him the Bo Schembechler Team MVP and Defensive Player of the Year Awards. He was at his best vs. Michigan State, recording 10 tackles and 3.5 TFL in the 2017 edition of the rivalry.

Martin’s stats (2008-11): 172 tackles, 25 TFL, 10 sacks

Simply put, Martin is one of the best run-stoppers to even don the winged helmet.

In his final game for Michigan, the Sugar Bowl vs. Virginia Tech, Martin tied a career-high with 10 tackles. Serving as a team captain for the 2011 season, Martin set the example by earning second-team All-Big Ten selections from both the coaches and the media.

As strong as any defensive tackle in recent Michigan football history, the Detroit Catholic Central product was a model of consistency. He appeared in 49 of a possible 50 games and recorded 37 starts, including 16 consecutively.

Honorable mention: Will Campbell (2009-12), Willie Henry (2013-15)
