October

Iowa: W

The Wolverines will host Iowa on October 5th and this was another tough game to predict. This would be Jim Harbaugh’s second meeting with Iowa, losing his only game against the Hawkeyes on the road in 2016. Iowa will be solid next season, with an experienced quarterback, but not good enough to win at the Big House.

Illinois: W

Playing at Illinois October 12th could prove to be tricky. The Fighting Illini could also have Brandon Peters as their starting quarterback, which is probably an upgrade over what they have had in previous seasons. I can see this being closer than expected, yet Michigan grinds out a road win.

Penn State: W

The road game at Penn State (Oct. 19) starts a difficult two-week stretch that includes a road trip to Happy Valley, followed by a return home to face Notre Dame. It’s hard to get a read on Penn State but it should be a solid team. The quarterback, Sean Clifford, is new but should have it figured out by October. If they make this a night game, watch out, UM could be on upset alert.

Notre Dame: W

Outside of Ohio State, this is obviously the toughest opponent on the schedule. Notre Dame is coming off a 12-1 season, a trip to the playoffs and returns 13 starters. Head coach Brian Kelly is also one of the best in the business. Playing the Irish one week after Penn State won’t make it easy, yet Harbaugh has lost only four games at home and he won’t make it No. 5 against the Fighting Irish.
