First four games

Middle Tennesee State: W

Michigan football will open its season August 31st against Middle Tennesee State, a program that won eight games a year ago and won the Conference USA East Division. Yet, the Blue Raiders allowed nearly 27 points a game and will need to break in a new starting quarterback. This might not be a cakewalk, but the Wolverines should win without too much trouble.

Army: W

Believe it or not, Army won 11 games last season and gave Oklahoma a scare on the road early in the season, losing 28-21 in Norman. With dual-threat quarterback Kelvin Hopkins Jr. returning after rushing for 1,000 yards, this offense is no joke. Expect a competitive game and the Wolverines to allow some yards on the ground, before asserting themselves in the end.

Wisconsin: W

This is one of the games I had a tough time predicting. Michigan heads to Wisconsin Sept. 21 after a bye. It’s scheduled to be an 11 a.m. CST kickoff, which is better than a night game and while I expect the Badgers to give UM a battle, I think this would be a tougher game later in the season.

Rutgers: W

Rutgers comes to the Big House Sept. 28 and that should be a blowout. Think Nebraska last season because I would expect Michigan to control this one from start to finish.
