Andrew the Giant

For those too young to remember, Andre the Giant was a 7-foot-4-inch wrestler for the WWE where he famously feuded with legendary wrestler Hulk Hollywood Hogan. The next kid on this list could have given Andre a run for his money.

Standing at 6-foot-8-inches and weighing 310-pounds, Andrew Gentry is a verified giant and very good at playing tackle. So good that he has a 9734 composite rating and is ranked 51st nationally. At OT, Gentry is ranked 6th and he is ranked 1st out of his home state of Colorado.

Gentry attends the infamous Columbine High School which – again for those too young to remember – was the site of one of the worst school shooting massacres in history and continues to be a teaching point for all law enforcement in the county and internationally. I know that as a fact because I was in law enforcement for over 10 years and I must have been forced to read the after-action report at least 50 times.

Back to happier topics, following a June official visit to Ann Arbor, Michigan made Gentry’s list of top four schools.

“I had a great meeting with him (Jim Harbaugh) on Saturday as well,” Andrew said. “He’s just an awesome guy, and I would argue there aren’t many people in the world who know football better than he does, especially Michigan football.

“Harbaugh is one of the only coaches who has been a first-round pick in the NFL, and then produced a first-round pick from Michigan. In fact, he’s the only person to do that at any college, so his record speaks for itself.”

Blair Angulo from 247Sports was kind enough to provide the following scouting report on Gentry:

“Broad-shouldered frame with thick lower half. Strong upper body at 310 pounds, with room to add some mass. Impressively agile for his size. Finishes blocks well. Repeatedly reaches the second level to open running lanes. Quick off the snap and maintains pad level through contact. Top-notch run blocker who seals his gaps. Room to improve as a pass blocker and with regard to his overall athleticism. Potential multi-year starter at Power Five level and NFL Draft Day 2 selection.”

Both Rivals and 247Sports have Andrew leaning toward BYU.
