Another safety?

Wait, didn’t Michigan get the top safety in 2019? And didn’t they already grab a top safety for 2020?

Yes, and yes.

But it’s not going to stop them from grabbing this game changer. The game changer I’m referring to is West Bloomfield High School star, Makari Paige.

Ranked fifth in-state, the 19th safety, and 244th nationally, Paige holds four stars and a 9142 composite rating. So if you’re asking yourself why UM needs another safety I can tell you they don’t but what they need is the best athletes around and Makari is one of the best.

What Ohio State did was expose the Wolverines defense and Don Brown knows he has to deviate from the typical lockdown scheme he’s used to employing and begin to move some guys around.

“They’re still coming in hard,” Paige told WolverinesWire. “They want to move me around – play free safety, rover, VIPER. Those are the positions – (they have me) moving around a lot.”

It’s not just the coaches who want to see Makari wearing the maize and blue, it’s also Michigan football’s 2020 commits who are in his ear.

“Basically all of the same stuff everyone’s telling me,” Paige said. “(What) Jordan’s (Morant) telling me. A.J. (Henning)’s been texting me, (West Bloomfield teammate Cornell Wheeler) of course.”

Rivals believes Paige will choose Ohio State, however, 247Sports have the crystal balls leaning in Michigan’s corner. Only time will tell where this game-changer will commit.
