Kris Jenkins

As I mentioned, one position that Michigan football still needs to address in this recruiting class is defensive tackle. Aaron Lewis, who flipped from West Virginia last Sunday, could potentially play inside and in the 3-man front Don Brown has been using, only one true DT is needed.

So Michigan doesn’t necessarily need huge 300-pound defensive tackles, but they do need guys who have the ability to play as a three-technique or a five-technique and one name that comes to mind is three-star defensive end Kris Jenkins.

At 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, Jenkins is listed as a strong-side defensive end, but like Lewis, he has room to grow and could easily put on 20-30 pounds with his frame. Like Carlo Kemp, he could eventually transition from defensive end over to defensive tackle and either way, he seems like more of a five-technique than an edge rusher.

Jenkins is the son of a former NFL player and is his uncle also played in the league so he has good bloodlines. Michigan football has also been closing strong with him in recent weeks and after his visit to Ann Arbor last weekend, it feels like a commitment is on the way. Northwestern, Boston College and Maryland are among others in the mix. He also has offers from Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Penn State and Syracuse.
