2014 NBA Draft

This was the year LeBron returned to Ohio and the Cav’s had the number one overall pick. Not fair.

This is also another year where Michigan basketball had not one, not two, but three guys selected in the draft.

Nik Stauskas

We all knew Nik Stauskas was a great shooter but where he was taken in the draft was a bit perplexing. The Sacramento Kings took a leap of faith on Nik at No. 8 and it didn’t pan out.

Stauskas has become a journeyman in the league, bouncing around and is back with his old college coach in Cleveland. Maybe Beilein can right the ship that is the career of the former Big Ten Player of the Year.

Mitch McGary

The 21st pick of the 2014 draft belonged to the Oklahoma City Thunder who drafted Mitch McGary.

Injuries and a marijuana suspension likely dropped Mitch out of the top 10-15 picks but not completely out of the first round.

After two years, OKC decided to send Mitch to their G League affiliate, the OKC Blue.

Glen Robinson III

Like Mitch and Nik, Glen Robinson III left Michigan early to fulfill his NBA dreams and he has experienced some success. Back in Michigan, Glen plays for the Pistons where he averages 13 minutes and 4.2 points-per-game.

Glen was selected in the second round by the Timberwolves as the 40th pick and he has moved around quite a bit, in fact, Detroit is his fourth team since entering the League.
