With the NBA draft over it’s time to take a look at where the available Michigan basketball players were drafted and where UM players are in the NBA.

June is not only synonymous with summer, but also baseball and drafts. The NBA and NHL drafts take place in the warmer months, two months removed from their NFL counterparts. Since we’re not talking about hockey, let’s get to this years NBA draft which was filled with drama, excitement, and disappointment. Michigan basketball had two stars taken in the two rounds at Barclays center with another still waiting on an NBA contract.

Jordan Poole came off the board much sooner than expected. The one-year starter will be heading to Golden State to play with Steph Curry and Co. likely competing for another NBA Championship.

As a first round pick, 28th overall, Jordan is looking at a contract with money somewhere just south of $1.5 million.

Ignas Brazdeikis was the next one off the board and was forced to wear the wrong hat – an embarrassing act the NBA must change. To sum it up, while the teams are actively engaged in trades the NBA won’t recognize them for a few weeks. So while Iggy was technically selected by one of the four teams from California and forced to wear that team’s hat, he will be playing for the Knicks; bringing back the Wolverine presence back to the Garden.

As to the third Wolverine available to be drafted, Charles Matthews is still waiting on a phone call from an NBA executive, or at least no phone call has been reported.

As we all wait to hear where Matthews will be playing once his ACL heals, let’s take a look at the former Michigan men in the NBA broken down by draft year.
